Originally from Toronto, Canada, Esther Mayer-Deutsch was born into a warm traditional Sephardic home As a baalat teshuva from her teen years, Esther began her exploration of the world of Torah in Neve Yerushalayim, Midreshet Rachel v’Chaya, and Shearim. Learning in Israel helped her develop a deep and irresistible love for Eretz Yisrael. Inspired by her incredible teachers and role models and by the wisdom and depth of the Torah, she began a career in Jewish education, culminating in receiving a Masters in Jewish Education at Hebrew University.
Esther has taught and been involved in multiple seminaries around Jerusalem. She feels most alive when travelling Eretz Yisrael with her family, learning Rebbe Nachman’s Torah, drinking flavoured coffee, and laughing out loud, which she does quite a lot.
Esther lives with her husband and four beautiful, small children in the Old City of Jerusalem, just around the corner from the Midrasha.
